Craig Kalpakjian works across sculpture, photography, video, drawing, and installation. His practice examines how technologies and built environments organize perception, movement, and social relations. Computer renderings of apparently empty interiors, automated lights, surveillance equipment, and distorted geometric forms make the mechanisms of control both visible and uncertain.

His recent works bring the horizon, the frame, and the written word into this inquiry. Digitally constructed landscapes meet colored pencil and inkjet printing; their surfaces move between apparent depth and flatness. In (Pre)History Lessons (2024–25), quotations, images, and filmed journeys through New York become a spatial investigation of history and the possibility of different forms of social organization.

Born in Huntington, New York, in 1961, Kalpakjian lives and works in New York. He received a BA in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. Recent exhibitions include Broken Waves Sky at Good Weather, Chicago (2023), and solo presentations at Kai Matsumiya (2017, 2020, 2023, and 2024–25) and Oreilles Internaxionales, Basel (2021).
